Our Work  /  Hearing Number

Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health · Hearing Health

A number that makes hearing health easier to understand.

As a strategic development partner, we brought a partner-led public-health campaign to life online — building a responsive platform that helps people learn, track, and use their Hearing Numbers.

The challenge

How do you turn a clinical hearing metric into something people can understand — and act on?

The Hearing Number campaign needed to make an unfamiliar measure feel as useful and approachable as other personal health numbers. Working from the campaign strategy, visual design, and content developed by our partner and the Johns Hopkins team, Hybrid Studios translated that system into a responsive digital experience for consumers, health professionals, and organizations helping to advance hearing health.

What we delivered

Partner-led campaign. Purpose-built development.

2 Hearing Numbers, one per ear
4 Frequencies in the PTA4 measure
Consumers + clinicians Core audiences

One campaign, every screen

A clear digital home for understanding hearing.

We developed a responsive platform that carries the partner-created campaign system across desktop, tablet, and mobile. The experience introduces the Hearing Number in plain language, connects people to practical next steps, and gives health professionals a direct path to guidance and resources — all through one cohesive digital home.

Clarity from clinical information

A simple number, grounded in useful context.

The site explains that everyone has two Hearing Numbers — one for each ear — and shows how the measure changes over time. We implemented responsive content, range-based guidance, timelines, illustrations, and audiogram instructions that make the underlying PTA4 measure easier to understand without stripping away the clinical context.

Multiple paths to action

Practical guidance for getting, tracking, and using a Hearing Number.

People can explore several ways to learn their Hearing Numbers — the Hearing Number app, a hearing care professional, compatible hearing-test tools, and an existing audiogram. Once they have the number, responsive range cards connect it to typical listening experiences, communication strategies, technology, and ways to protect hearing over time.

Support for broader adoption

Tools that help the conversation travel further.

We implemented dedicated experiences for health professionals alongside a campaign resource library. Practice examples, conversation guidance, downloadable fact sheets, graphic elements, app-store assets, news, and shareable materials help clinicians and partner organizations introduce the Hearing Number in their own work.
